The Biltmore Estate is a historic house museum and tourist attraction in Asheville, North Carolina. Biltmore House (or Biltmore Mansion), the main residence, is a Châteauesque-style mansion built for George Washington Vanderbilt II between 1889 and 1895[2] and is the largest privately owned house in the United States, at 178,926 sq ft (16,622.8 m2) of floor space and 135,280 sq ft (12,568 m2) of living area.[3] Still owned by George Vanderbilt's descendants, it remains one of the most prominent examples of Gilded Age mansions.

The North Carolina Arboretum (434 acres (176 ha)) is an arboretum and botanical garden located within the Bent Creek Experimental Forest of the Pisgah National Forest at 100 Frederick Law Olmsted Way, southwest of Asheville, North Carolina near the Blue Ridge Parkway.[1] It is open daily except for Christmas Day. There is no admission charge, but some parking fees do apply.

Arcade video games are here too! In contrast to today when most of our recreation time is spent at home, often with our eyeballs glued to a screen, this pinball nostalgic museum takes visitors back to a bygone era. Located in downtown Asheville, the museum is packed to the brim with evocative exhibits, including some 75 vintage pinball machines, all available to play on site. There are also numerous classic video games available, plus tons of gaming memorabilia dotted around the venue – on the walls and even in the restrooms. And just like the halcyon days of arcades, the museum also offers lashings of snacks, sodas and beers.

The River Arts District, or RAD, is a creative hub along the French Broad River. Former warehouses and mills, many with colorful exterior murals, contain glassblowing, pottery, and other artisan studios, plus indie art galleries. The buzzing dining and nightlife scene encompasses hip cafes, BBQ restaurants, craft breweries, and cozy, chilled-out music venues like the long-running Grey Eagle.

Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the impressive (and big) Sierra Nevada Brewery and sample some brews. Unwind with brews in their Taproom and enjoy lunch or dinner in their massive restaurant, a showpiece for the brewery with 400 indoor seats, a big outdoor dining terrace, 23 beer taps and a chef-driven farm-to-table menu that complements their craft beer. The brewery is located between Asheville and Hendersonville, in the community of Mills River.

The Minor Basilica of St. Lawrence the Deacon & Martyr is a minor basilica of the Roman Catholic Church in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, United States. The church was designed and built in 1905 by Spanish architect Rafael Guastavino along with his fellow architect R. S. Smith and the Roman Catholic community of Asheville. The basilica is known for its many elaborate stained glass windows, many of which were made in Munich, Germany.

The Western North Carolina Nature Center is a 42-acre zoological park in Western North Carolina operated by the City of Asheville's Parks and Recreation department. Until 1973, it was known as the Asheville City Zoo and was then renamed the Children's Zoo and Nature Center.
